 Orthotics/Orthopaedic supports (Walking Callipers)

Orthotic Aids are supports for the weak or deformed part of body. This  is  due  to polio, congenital  deformiti es,  paraplagia  or neurological ailments. Orthotic aids are manufactured from steel, aluminium or plastics. As necessary, these appliances are  padded with U-Foam, Polyurethane Foam, Dunlop or leather.

Lower Limb Orthosis : Lower limb orthotic aids are of following types, which are provided as per patients deformity. (Ref: photo on the left showing a polio victim with both legs deformed, operating a sewing machine with the help of callipers.)

1. Above Knee Walking Caliper with orthopaedic boots. Pelvic band is given where there is hip rotation. Spinal support is also attached to the Caliper, if the lumbar spine is also deformed.

2. Below Knee Walking Caliper with orthopaedic boots. This appliance immobilizes the ankle joint. It is also very useful for foot drop cases.

3. Corrective Splints for above cases. These are also known as night splints. Hip, knee and Equinos foot deformities or Club foot are also corrected with splints.

4. Orthopaedic Boots are also manufactured for patients, including children, having flat feet or Club feet. Shortening of a limb is also corrected with compensation in the footwear.
